Newcastle, on the east coast of Australia is the home of much great music, acting and producing talent. It is also home base for a number of well known global entertainers.

Name Dropping. Gareth Hudson in this video is the son of my late good friend, Sue Hudson, Gareth is a well-travelled and accomplished musician – and nice person.

We went to the premiere of his stage musical The Enchanted Isle many years ago, and it was amazing! Gareth was so young. What an achievement.

Now he is also passing on his talent to the younger generations, ensuring Nwcastle continues its transformationfrom Steel City to Music City, where good live music is always on tap from the streets to the Clubs and Pubs and large entertainment venues.

One of the Silverchair musicians is also in this video clip. Silverchair was a Newcastle band, who it seemed, took over the music world for quite some time. I was lucky to catch their first (free!) open air concert on the Foreshore – right by the ocean -just when their first record was hitting the global charts. Not my kind of music at first, to be honest but it was obvious they had something outstanding – and lots of ”oomph!” We locals are very proud of them.

So I really like this laid-back and visually-interesting production of this classic pop song by Glovers Lane which must have taken a lot of collaboration, and was obviously great fun to do!.

With a Little Help From My Friends was originally a Beatles hit that I preferred as the grittier version by Joe Cocker (more on him later in Name Dropping)

But this version by Glovers Lane keeps drawing me back. Here it is Glovers Lane on Youtube
